Hello, all:
We flew fifteen sorties today. The tailwheel parts for the L-23 arrived early this week from the Czech Republic, Eric H installed them, and we were able to start flying the student pilots again. It was a nice day, too, with some decent thermal activity in the area. Today’s flights:
- Trevor F flew one flight lesson with Steve R instructing.
- Tom S flew three flights with Steve, to complete this 24-month Flight Review.
- Bob A flew a sortie in the L-23 with Sal riding along.
- Will M flew two solo pattern tows in the L-23. He hadn’t flown since July and was knocking the rust off.
- Eric H flew a sortie in the partner-owned 1-26B.
- Jeff F flew a 41-minute sortie in his 1-26B, which was the longest flight of the day. He found a thermal just north of a harvested field.
- Imanol S flew two flight lessons with Eric, and one with Steve.
- Jim D was out today for the first time since last spring. He flew one pattern tow with Steve along.
- Jose C flew two flight lessons with Steve.
The winds were a bit sporty today, and the predicted Buoyancy/Shear ratio indicated the thermals wouldn’t hold together very well. The thermals were there, but it was hard to stay in them.
Bob D. did the towing today.
Safe soaring!
