Hello, all:
We’re back! The first day of soaring operations for the 2025 soaring season was today. For the first day of flying, we focused on our club members annual safety flights, which are used to reacquaint our pilots with flying a glider. Most of our members haven’t flown a glider since last November, and we need to give everyone a chance to refresh their skills. The weather worked in our favor today! That and the camaraderie of our club members made for a great day at BTA! We flew 18 sorties today:
– First up was Ryan K with Steve R for an ASF (Annual Safety Flight).
– Dan P and Tom S flew Tom’s ASF.
– Dan and Steve each did their ‘Form 5 Civil Air Patrol’ (CAP) flights to maintain their currency with the CAP.
– Bob A flew his ASF.
– Will M flew his ASF with Steve.
– Steve flew a combined ASF and flight lesson with Joe C.
– Mark B flew his ASF with Steve.
– Dan gave 2 introductory flights to two guests who are interested in learning to fly.
– Ryan flew two solo flights. Ryan has decided to pursue a Commercial glider rating. He needs 100 flights as Pilot in Command (PIC).
– Mark and Steve flew two flights. Mark has also decided to pursue a Commercial glider rating.
Frank did all the towing today.
It was great to be back out to the field!
If you are interested in learning to fly non-powered aircraft, email teschaap@aol.com for more information! We will be back at the field tomorrow at noon!
