Hello, all:
.
It was a nice afternoon for soaring. It was warm and it was a bit humid, but it wasn’t bad for August. Tows were very smooth, which means that thermal activity was very light. There were some small thermals that allowed a couple of flights that lasted close to 30-minutes, but most of us found no lift, and the flights were less than twenty minutes.
.
We did fly fifteen flights today, so even though there was no lift, we didn’t sit around. Bob A. took the Grob for a flight. The rest of the flights were flown in the L-23. Jim D. flew three flights in the L-23. Dave L. flew two flights, and Bud S. and I each flew a single flight. Jeff F. flew a single flight with Jaime A., where they worked on extreme slips plus did some work for the Bronze Soaring Badge (landing with the altimeter covered, but they also covered the airspeed indicator for an added challenge). Matt R. flew five flights with his wife – he’s getting closer and closer to having the required 100 flights for a Commercial Glider Certificate. Frank did the towing for us all.
.
No flying tomorrow – stormy weather is forecast all day. Have a nice Sunday!
.
Regards,
.
