Hi All,
We started later than normal today, as we were waiting for the sky to clear. As a result, we didn’t end the day until 6:35PM, but that’s okay as sunset wasn’t until 8:55PM.
The first four flights today were limited to 2,000′ (AGL) tows, because of low clouds. Once the clouds cleared, there were plenty of thermals, which went up to about 5,000′ (AGL). Today’s flights:
- Joe C. flew two flight lessons with Steve R. instructing.
- Mark B. flew a total of four flights. His first flight was with Steve, and his second and third flights were solo flights in the L-23. His fourth flight was his first flight in the 1-26B he co-owns (S/N 379, nicknamed ‘The Gadget’). He had a smooth take-off and landing, but the thermals were dissipating by that time. Still, he said he had a lot of fun.
- Bob D. flew his Annual Safety Flight with Eric H. riding along. He followed this flight up with a solo in the L-23.
- Sean took his Jonkers JS-3 up for about half an hour.
- Dave L. flew with Eric riding along while Dave worked on getting checked out for flying from the rear seat.
- Steve flew ‘The Gadget’ for 36 minutes, which was the longest flight of the day. He cut the flight short and said he had to use full spoilers to get down as the thermals were strong.
- Eric and his son Ethan flew a 34-minute flight in the L-23.
- Jose flew a flight lesson with Eric instructing. He flew a second flight lesson with Steve instructing.
- Trevor F. flew two flight lessons, both with Steve instructing.
- Sean F. flew two flight lessons with Steve instructing.
We ended with 18 sorties, which is a good day.
Frank did the towing today.
Safe soaring to all!
