Club Operations

The Omaha Soaring Club operates from Blair Municipal Airport (KBTA).  Blair Airport has a beautiful paved runway, new taxiways and many improvements that have been made over the last few years for GA pilots.  All that is good, but what makes BTA special for OSC is the glider grass!  Just to the north of the main runway and offset slightly to the East is where we operate our gliders and sailplanes from.  This gives the club the unique ability to safely operate in concert with powered traffic at the field.

On the days when the club is operating one member of the club is designated Supervisor of Flying, or SOF for short.  That person is designated as the safety officer of the day.  Duties include all aspects of club safety as well as organizer for the order of flights.  That person also records information about each flight for club records.
