Soaring Report Sunday 5/6/18

Hi All We had 7 flights today.  Don Meyer drove over from Des Moines for his safety flight with Dan.  Next up was Jeff Friend for his second FAST flight with Dan followed by Jake with Dan.  Then Stoner took up Dylan, an exchange student from South Korea.  Then Larry went up with Dan.  Stoner then took up his friend Scott for a flight followed by Bob A. for the hangar flight.  Frank did all the towing and cleaned the Pawnee landing gear too!  Thanks Frank.  Also a thanks to Stoner for greasing the tractor and tightening the steering, a big difference.  Also he donated a nice tool kit and...

Soaring Report Saturday 5/5/18

Hi All, We had 11 flights today. It ended up a pretty nice day with lift to be found. First up was Whit with Jake for his second FAST flight. Then Larry and Jaime followed by Steve S. taking a friend, Dave Koukol, up for a ride. Dave is a current power pilot and he discovered the fun of soaring. Dave bought a FAST kit and also signed up as a new member. Welcome Dave!  Jake Kettelhut also signed up as a member today. Welcome Jake! Soaring Report Sunday 4/22/18

Hi All, It turned out to be a nice day for once! A Total of 7 flights. First up was Bob Craig for his safety flight with Whit. Next up was Larry and Jaime for some dual time and a 30 minute flight. Bob A. did his safety flight with Bob C. followed by Paul for his SF. David and Jaime did a half hour of dual. Bob C. took up his Russia for an hour and a 7,000 top. I did the hangar flight. Let’s go along for a ride with Irvin “Mack” McKain! The sun is out and you can feel it heating your skin. The air seems dry. Two conditions most often leading to good soaring potential. You drag the single seat sailplane out of the hangar and to the runway. The tow plane is in place having done its test flight a while ago. Soaring Report Thursday 3/22/18

It turned out to be a nice day for March allowing us to get some Safety flights done.  Jaime got his bi-annual flight review done with Dan.  Whit and Dan both got safety flights done and some CAP requirements. Dan was the busiest instructor and managed to get in a couple tows at last. We had 3 simulated rope breaks and 3 pattern tows, the rest of flights were to 2,000 AGL tows. Safety flights today – Jaime, Dan, Whit, Jim, Steve R., Stoner, and myself. A total of 12 flights today with winds down the runway to 30 degrees off with some occasional gusts, good experience.
